I have been working in various countries in the Middle East and Central Asia, trying to capture the essence of the street life that animates squares and markets. Iran is a big country where, in contrast to countries of Northern Europe, for instance, life happens in the street. Music, trade, coffee, and informal chats all take place in the street as if it were a big free theater. This is the essence of a country often depicted in Panahi's movies.
